Southern California doesn't get a true fall like a lot of the country does but it's always been my favorite season. Something else that I love about fall besides the amazing weather and family fun is that I finally get to change up my makeup look. My favorite eyeshadows and lipsticks tend to be really plummy, coppery, earth-toned shades that are geared more towards fall. Not that there are rules to makeup, but it's really nice to wear fall toned makeup in the fall.
But of course I am super busy and there isn't a lot of time on the daily to play with said makeup and I'd be lying if I said I even wore makeup everyday. But when I do have those extra 10 minutes, I love to sit at my desk and put on a better version of my face.
If you're super busy on the daily the way that I am, you might think you don't have time to put on any makeup at all. But the truth is that if you have at least 10 minutes, you can put on a quick face. It just takes some practice and before you know it, you can probably do it in five minutes. Let me show you how quickly I can do a fall makeup look, that includes a fresh hair color, because yo, look at those grays!
5- Step Fall Makeup Look & Easy Color-at-Home
I love a good box of at-home hair color and this time decided to try the Schwarzkopf Color Ultime line. This product promises hair color that defies fading for up to 9 weeks of color shine, “True to box” color results and plenty of shine. All things that I am definitely looking for in my hair color. I picked up the shade Rich Brown at Walmart and could not wait to get rid of those grays.
With Schwarzkopf Color Ultime Hair Color, I can color my hair at my leisure. In other words, I color my hair when I can catch an extra half an hour with no child clinging to me. Most of us are so busy, I don't have time to go to the hairdresser and honestly, I love the value of doing my own hair.
I've been doing my own hair at home since my late teens and I can practically do it with my eyes closed. If you're a newbie to at-home color, you can find everything you need in the box including gloves and instructions.
After my hair is ready and while it air dries, I am ready for my 5-step fall makeup look.
5-step Makeup
- foundation: I start the look with one of my best no-fuss foundations that is really lightweight but still offers medium coverage.
- blush: next I put on a neutral blush that won't conflict with either the eye or lip color but will still give my cheeks a flush of color. I think blush is SO important, especially for dark hair. If I don't wear blush I look washed out, so blush is a must for me!
- eyeshadow: the real stand of this particular look is this shadow, which is amazing and if you believe, under $4. I pat this onto my lids with my ring finger generously and then using a blending brush I will sweep it on my crease for a smokier effect. Don't forget to smudge some underneath the lower lash line too.
- mascara: mascara is another really important step - if I can do nothing else I always sweep at least one coat of a really good mascara on my lashes.
- lipstick: of course you can't have a fall makeup look without a fall-toned lippie. I used a shade that is brick orange.
There are many more steps to makeup that you can add to this look if you have the time: contouring, highlighting, lip liner, eyeliner, etc. But, if you're strapped for time, the way that I am, then this is a perfect 10 minute (or less) face.
Did I mention that for this look I only used FIVE makeup products? If that's not easy, I don't know what is. And as you can see, the transformation is real.
