My family is a very united one. As a mom of five girls, three who now have kids, I am now a grandmother to six kiddos. That's a lot of grandkids right? Especially for one so young as myself (jaja). It feels like just yesterday my girls where all that age, so to now see all these little people, that belong to my kids, is crazy. It's a little scary to tell the truth. You want so much for these kids, and really grandkids are almost a second chance to makeup for some of your parenting mistakes. That's why I am super involved with not just my daughters, but their kids too. I am with all of the practically daily, and I would have it no other way. I missed so much of my girls childhood because I was a single parent who worked all day, that now no one can make me miss one second of my grandkids lives.

A big part of watching them grow has been seeing them go to school and being a part of their achievements. My oldest grandson Angel has gone from really struggling to keep up with his grade level to getting much better scores and so much more confidence in the space of a year. He's gone from really disliking school and not wanting to go to looking forward to class and being excited about the fact that he understands what his class is working on. Now he talks about furthering his education and what he wants to do for a living when he is older. He changes his mind a lot depending on the day, but it's so exciting for me to watch the excitement in his eyes as he talks about college and his future. It's hard to believe this is the same kid that didn't even want to go to school two years ago.

As a parent and grandparent there is nothing that can make me prouder than watching my family succeed and be happy in life. I want to watch these kids grow up to do whatever they have their hearts set on. The high price of college should not be a barrier, which is the case with so many Latino families. When Angel goes to college in about 7 years the last thing that I want him to worry about is how to pay for it and neither should any other kids that are ready to go now.

Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. is now an official partner of the The Hispanic Scholarship Fund and are here to help many of our Latino teens reach their dreams and metas. By providing scholarships to students that qualify, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund are providing help to kids who are not financially able to go to college. A lot of Latino kids never make it to college because of financial pressures, but thanks to Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, many will make it. Scholarship applications are open until March 30th. Visit The Hispanic Scholarship Fund  for full details. Please pass this info on.

Our kids dreams shouldn't have barriers, let's knock the financial one off for them so they can go to college and shoot as high as they want.
