Summer marks the start of the celebration season for my family. It begins with Father's Day and continues with 3-4 birthdays per month for the next 4 months. That's a lot of birthday gifts, dinners, lunches and trips to plan for. We usually let each person decide what they want to do on their special day, meaning it can get pretty expensive. That's why I like to plan ahead, especially when it comes to things like greeting cards and gift wrap.

The first thing I do is head out to Walmart to pick up American Greetings cards, ribbon and tissue paper. Normally. this is a step I really dislike because it can get very expensive. American Greetings products are quite affordable and you can get a lot more bang for your buck. For someone with as large a family as my own, American Greetings is so appreciated. On this last trip Sammy's picked out her Father's Day card and I got two birthday cards for July.

With Father's Day card in-hand, we can now prep Sammy's Father's Day gift to her dad. Instead of making him a typical basket with these small amount of  items she was able to buy on her limited budget, we decided to make him a gift jar. This jar will be full of some of his favorite items.

Father's Day Mason Jar Gift
American Greetings Father's Day Card
American Greetings ribbon in white
vintage rock n' roll tee
exfoliating bath sponge
scented soap
cool razor

Fold the t-shirt with the print showing through and wrap around the inside of the jar. Place the exfoliating bath sponge, soap and razor inside, keeping everything a bit tousled. Now using the ribbon make a cool-looking guy bow. This was the hardest part as we really wanted to make a bowtie but failed miserably at it.

Without a large budget Sammy now has the perfect gift jar for her dad for Father's Day. The most perfect part of it? The card says Papa, which is what she calls her dad. We definitely scored by finding the perfect greeting card for him.

There will be many more gifts for the old guy, but for sure I think this will be the most special.

After Father's Day starts the birthday marathon so I have to get back to Walmart with a full list of names to shop for. With such a nice selection of greetings cards, I know I will find a card to suit each person on my list. How many greeting cards do you need to stock up on for summer celebrations?
