Fuel Them Up To Play Strong - Sammy Makes Six

Fuel Them Up To Play Strong

This is a sponsored post in collaboration with The Motherhood, however all opinions are my own.

Sammy is 9 years old and aunt to six boys and one girl, five of them younger than her. Even though she is in their age range, she is still an aunt and that makes her a role model for all of them. I am proud to say it's something she takes pretty serious and is such a good influence on the kids. Whether practicing the alphabet or the colors, or maybe it's reading to them at bedtime, Sammy's got it covered.

Another area where Sammy really helps out is in getting the little ones out for some physical activity. Our summers are pretty extreme and the kids would rather stay indoors watching television or just staying cool, but they need to get at least an hour of activity and this is where Sammy is also such a good motivator.

Little Anthony might look like he's full of energy and ready to run wild, but he needs encouragement and that is what she offers. So while Anthony might start slow, soon he is running all over the place and enjoying the outdoors.

The right nutrition fuels play time with friends and family all year long and the Fuel Up to Play 60 campaign can help provide the tools we need to get kids more active this summer. Real California dairy families have continued activation of Fuel Up to Play 60, a campaign created by the NFL and National Dairy Council that promotes physical activity and good nutrition in schools.

School may be out but learning to be a leader never stops! Encourage your kids to sign up to be a FUTP 60 ambassador, which encourages leadership amongst peers, healthy nutrition and physical activity. Kids can start learning more about FUTP 60 healthy eating and physical activity plays, earning points before the school year even starts!

With all of the technology at our kids fingertips, it can be hard to pull them away for 60 minutes of physical activity. But that's why Sammy is lucky to have all her nephews and niece and they are lucky to have her, they all push and motivate each other. Summer just started and already they are getting their physical activity on.

Fuel Up to Play 60 encourages kids to fuel up with nutrient-rich foods – which include low-fat and fat-free dairy, lean meats, fruits, vegetables and whole grains – and do at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. We always bring a snack made with Real California Milk and encourage as much milk drinking during the day, to really fuel them up for the day. Real California Milk represents the real foods from real people – dairy foods made with milk from more than 1,400 California dairy families.

Look for ways to encourage healthy eating and physical activity all summer long and see the difference once school starts in the fall. You can also join the Fuel Up To Play 60 community online and get some help with that, because believe me, I know it's not as easy as it sounds.
