#ShareASmile With Family - Sammy Makes Six

#ShareASmile With Family

Thank you to Nestle® Pure Life® for sponsoring this blog post. All opinions are my own.

With our super busy weekday schedule life is incredibly hectic these days. That's why our weekend outings are so special to us and why we go out as a family no matter how much we'd rather stay home and pass out. A lot of times we hit the park, drive out to the beach for a day of sun or if we're lucky, we road trip to LA to one of our favorite destinations. Heading out for a full day in Los Angeles means packing up plenty of NESTLƉ® PURE LIFE® water for the kiddos. These smaller bottles are more appealing to them because of the cute design and smaller presentation. Have you noticed how hard it is to get kids to drink the larger water bottles? My Sammy is terrible when it comes to drinking water, so much so that we've had to cut down all sugary drinks in her lunch bag because that's all she ever wanted to drink. If we packed juice she would drink it and leave the water bottles unopened, so after a while we had to stop packing juice at all. It hasn't been super easy teaching her that sugary drinks are okay in moderation and that water is important for healthy hydration.

I'm not the only parent who struggles with getting their kids to drink more water. Drinking water is one of the biggest "healthy habit" struggles moms have with their kids (38%), even more than struggles like "eat your fruit" (29%), "get enough exercise (23%), "eat your breakfast" (19%), and "drink your milk" (18%).

Did you know?
Replacing a single 12-ounce, 140 calorie sugar sweetened beverage with water each day for a year can cut more than 50,000 calories from one's diet.

Kids who drink 4+ glasses of water per day are more likely to frequently exhibit healthy habits, such as:
  • Getting their own water when thirsty,
  • Eating their fruits and vegetables at meal times without reminders
  • Requesting healthy food and beverage options for school lunches

Water doesn't have to be boring with NESTLƉ® PURE LIFE®. These bottles are perfect for children's small hands, they have fun designs and are easy to pack. I can just throw a few bottles in my purse and know that we're covered as soon as they get thirsty. If you have kids you know they get thirsty the minute you leave home, so it's great to always have these little bottles on hand.

These moments with family are the best. We spent an hour listening to a live band, broadening the kids love of music and dance. We also got to just sit back and relax for a while at lunch, which was so nice after such a busy week. We took a ton of photos, which is important when you have kids that are growing and changing by the day. Little Anthony just gets bigger and bigger and more handsome, while Angel is starting to look like a teenager. The girls are at an age where they still want to hang out with mom and grandma, which won't be the case much longer so I really have to take advantage now. We had a great day overall and I could not be happier for the memories.

Plus I'm really happy that the kids are much more into drinking water and that they reach for it themselves. Sometimes it just takes giving them easy access to water bottles so that they don't ask for a soda. Does your child love the cute, kid-friendly design of NESTLƉ® PURE LIFE® water bottles and think they can design their own label? Here is their chance!
