I never had a pet growing up, my mom always said they were too much trouble and very dirty. I don't know if this was a Mexican thing or what because none of my neighborhood friends had pets either. Meanwhile all my American friends had dogs, cats, hamsters and all kinds of other pets. It was something that didn't make me happy but eventually I bought into the pets are dirty and too much trouble deal and gave up the idea of having one. But it's true what they say about how we don't always choose our pets, how they choose us. One day I was footloose and fancy with no pets to my name and then suddenly the next day I had a tiny doggie who needed me to take care of it. So there I was, a 41 year old woman who'd never had a dog, looking down at this scraggly, dirty creature wondering what in the world I was going to feed it and how I would ever get rid of all that grime. Well, we survived. It might have not gone super smooth but eventually I began to get the hang of this fur mommy deal. I'm still learning of course, and it's going to take me a lot longer than ten months to really get the hang of being a good pet parent. There's been a few times that I've run out of food or like a few weeks ago when we put her out to go to the bathroom and forgot about her for half an hour, not my best moments but not too serious either. She's such a sweetheart that she never holds those moments against me, I think she realizes that I do my best with her. Rocky has brought so much to us that sometimes I don't know if I am taking care of her, or if she's the one taking care of me. That's why I like to bring her special little gifts when I go shopping, she's just like one of my other girls, she needs her girly things and I love to shop!
On my most recent trip to Target I decided it was time for a new bed since she's had the other since first coming home with us.
