Five Minute Braided Knot for Girls - Sammy Makes Six

Five Minute Braided Knot for Girls

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® and Latina Bloggers Connect. However, all opinions are my own.

I love this time of year, even though it is the craziest time of all. Right after Halloween come all the holidays and in our house it is a non stop schedule all the way till after Christmas. With so much work plus all of Sammy's after school activities, we are very busy and that means that we simplify as much we can. Everything from our get up and out the door routine in the morning, to our evenings is sorted out and planned ahead of time so that it can all be done with as little fuss as possible.

On top of our already packed schedule this week, we had a birthday and a dinner to attend, both on school nights. What did this mom do to get her little girl ready to leave in record time on a day we were waiting for our car to be done at the shop? Luckily, her school, our apartment and the repair shop are all within blocks of each other (we live in a very small town). We picked her up from school, got her out of her uniform, washed her face and headed to pick up the car. While her dad dealt with the mechanic and the paperwork we sat down to style her hair and make her little a little more presentable. Normally a fresh shower would have been nice but she had already showered in the morning so she wasn't as smelly as she could have been, if you have kids in elementary school, you know what I mean.

Her hair was still super soft and manageable after the morning wash with JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® Shampoo & Conditioner. This always leaves her hair so soft and easier to brush out with a fresh scent that really lingers.

In the morning I had also applied JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® Leave-In Conditioner which is a holy grail. We both use this after every single wash, it really makes brushing hair out so much easier! This conditioner helps hair stay smooth and strong so it will break less and it controls wild frizz and tangles. Sammy's hair is very thin and will tangle during every wash, so this step is a must every time she showers.

Now that we were ready to style, I brought out Step 3: JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® Detangling Spray which works to instantly unlock knots and tangles to improve manageability for easy trouble-free combing. A few spritz of this spray on wet or dry hair and there is a lot less ouch for her.

Sammy has really nice hair even though it's so thin, and the JOHNSONS® No More Tangles® line has a lot to do with it. It's so much stronger now and it breaks a lot less so we haven't even been cutting it as much as we had to before.

Now that her hair is tangle free and all brushed out we can move on to the first of three very fast steps, making a very high pony. I used my fingers to give it that more messier look. Step 1, done.

Step 2 is just as easy- simply take the hair and give it a quick and loose braid.

For step 3 you just take that braid and slowly knot it around the ponytail stem and clip down. I kept her braid as loose as possible so that her knot would be nice and big, for ballet class we do a much tighter braid with wet hair, but today we are going for a bigger knot.

I find this braided knot style to be really nice for when I want her to look more put together. This is the style that looks really cute on little girls her age but also looks like some effort was put into it, even when on a time crunch. It's super fast to do and you only need a hair tie and a bobby pin. To change up the look you can place the pony tail on either side or very low on her neck and it will look super cute and elegant each time. With this hairstyle, she is ready to hit all the holiday events looking just right.

Sammy went from super casual to cute and elegant in just five minutes. No fuss and no stress necessary, also no hair pulling!

Having a little girl is a lot of fun and she and I always have a lot of fun coming up with cute hairstyles and outfits. Sammy is growing up so fast that I am really trying to enjoy these special moments with her for as long as I can. Soon, she is going to want to do her own hair and chose her own clothes, but for now I am getting to enjoy helping her do it.
