Essence Long Lasting Lipstick Wear Berries

Last week I received an Ulta order (haul post coming soon) and I was so excited to finally have some of the Essence Long Lasting Lipsticks. I picked up three in this order after doing some swatch searching online. While this line has been available at the few Walgreens that carry Essence, they just arrived at Ulta. I don't really have access to those remote Walgreens, so I am excited to finally have these in my hands! Yesterday I tried out of the first of the three shades- Wear Berries. Here are my thoughts on this lipstick.

Lets talk about price which is only $3 per lipstick, this is ELF cosmetics type pricing, which makes Essence one of the lowest priced drugstore brands available. I have now tried quite a few Essence products and so far I love more of them than not. Essence truly is a great brand that is super affordable and I can't wait till they bring the U.S. even more of their fantastic products. Wear Berries is a purple shade that has enough of the purple that is really in style right now, but it's super wearable and not overly dramatic.

This is for all the ladies that are loving that purple lip, but would like a toned down version of it.

Gerard Cosmetics Color Your Smile Lighted Gloss in Wild Orchid

This is Wear Berries which you can see is a lot more wearable and still gives you that same purple color which is going to be so popular for the coming fall season.

I love how smooth this goes on. I totally was prepared for it to be as drying as Wet N Wild lipsticks because I have Ravin Raisin (another purple color) and I like it but it really tugs your lips and needs some type of moisture added to it. So when I applied this I was so happy to feel how smooth it went on. The formula is creamy and the color is really buildable, you can definitely go much lighter than this if you want a sheerer shade.

Wear time was about 4 hours before I felt I needed to refresh it. It doesn't moisturize your lips after the initial first half hour but it is not drying at all and feels very comfortable and it's not one of those colors that transfers like crazy. It also doesn't get on your teeth, which makes this finish even better. Overall I am very happy with Wear Berries and I can't wait to try the other two shades! Are you a fan of purple lip colors?

Essence Colour & Go Polish in Do You Speak Love?

Do You Speak Love? is the third Essence red polish that I own. I love the color red, it is my color, always has been. This shade just like Fame Fatal is a one coat polish that looks so incredible on. Before I begin though let me say that this color is a lot deeper in person. It's hard when doing any sort of makeup or nail polish picture because depending on the camera and the light in the room, you will get different shades. But nonetheless it is a red color which is striking and alluring. Look at the glossiness, and this is with NO topcoat.

While you can definitely get away with one coat of this polish, I always add a second for the sake of pictures and because my nails get a real workout on the keyboard. Adding a second coat allows them to wear a little longer on the ends. As with all Essence Colour & Go Polish bottles, you get that thick little brush that makes applying it a snap. I can literally do my nails in less than ten minutes with Essence polishes.

I love these fun little bottles and at $1.99 or less, they are a great value.

I purchase my Essence Coulour & Go Polishes at Ulta and  Walgreens.

This flash shot gives a much better idea of the true color of Do You Speak Love?

Another hit nail polish from Essence Cosmetics. I still can't get over how glossy and shiny their polish formulas are, and so budget friendly.

So, Do You Speak Love? I do!

Modern Romance by Essence Cosmetics Review and Swatches

Modern Romance is a polish shade that actually took me months to get ahold of. This is a nail polish shade that I have never found at Ulta and after seeing many beautiful shots of it on Instagram, I had to find it. My search ended up taking me to a Walgreens over an hour away from me, the only one in my area that actually carries Essence Cosmetics. You can bet I was totally stoked when I walked in and immediately spotted this bottle. In person this polish is lighter than most pictures on Instagram, which make it look like a light coral. In person Modern Romance is more of a peachy/pink shade that has micro pink glitter that shows up very little on the nails. I think this is good because I personally don't like glitter on nails unless I am adding it on an accent nail. I have another post coming soon for the color Oh My Glitter, which has these same micro shimmers in the formula.

I found the Modern Romance formula to be tricky. It applies very sheer, which seems to be the case with many of Essence Cosmetics lighter nail polish shades. It also applies streaky even after letting each coat dry for more time than I usually allow. I applied three coats but you can still see that the color is uneven, especially in the ridges of my nails. Once it is applied and fully dried though, you can not help but to really enjoy this color. It reminds me of summer, creamsicles and even though it makes my skin look a little bit darker, it is so pretty. I kept staring at my hands all afternoon just really loving this color. Excuse my broken thumb nail, broke it while I was opening my Mother's Day gift.

Pricing on Essence Colour & Go in Modern Romance is the same very low price of $1.99. This is such a great deal for these very fun and cute polishes. I can normally wear one for almost 6 days with no chipping and I really enjoy the packaging and fun colors. I only wish we had the complete line of polishes here in the states as they have in the UK. I am completely jealous of the ladies over there who have access to the entire Essence Cosmetics line!

Would I recommend and repurchase? Yes and yes!

I am in love with Modern Romance, this was truly love at first sight over Instagram and then in person. I can't wait to wear it many times over. What do you think of Modern Romance?
