Ipsy January 2015 Fresh Start

Hey all, it's January and I have my Ipsy bag to share with you! It's not really very exciting at all, in fact I had a feeling January would be a bust. I'm not digging my Ipsy subscription at all and I will be relieved when I finally cancel in February. Ipsy, as you may know, is only $10 per month and I think overall it is a GOOD subscription. The problem is that when you buy as many cosmetics as I do, something like Ipsy becomes obsolete. I rarely like anything they send me, and really if I look back to the 7 months I have been a member of their's, I can think back on only THREE items that I have really come to use on a day-to-day basis. Everything else is sitting in the bags they came in, or in my junk drawer.

January's glam bag theme is Fresh Start. I'm not sure how this translates into what I actually got, i'm just glad I didn't get more than one skin care item.

Let's talk about the Ipsy Glam Bag. This is one ugly bag, it's the most unappealing shade of blue and white and it is very cheap and plastic. Some of the bags I have gotten from Ipsy have been cute, others just okay, but this guy, this guy is UGLY.

La Fresh Eco-Beauty Be Good. Good Day. Day Moisturizer

I am not normally a fan of samples, especially when they are the type you can get free at a store. But I rather enjoy the simple clean look of this sample and I am looking forward to trying out this moisturizer. My skin is horribly dry right now and could use some serious hydration, I only wish the sample was bigger because it is very hard to gauge the efficiency of any product when you have this little to try out.

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo

I am curious about this product, though the reviews on the Ipsy site are tearing it down. I love a glowy and dewy finish so I will totally try this out in my foundation and alone. You never know, this could totally be a hidden gem.

(MALIN+GOETZ) Mojito Lip Balm

I love lip balms but I don't love the regular Chapstick like tubes so I was exited about this one. This is probably the item I am most excited about, which says a LOT about this bag. But seriously, I am testing so many matte lipsticks at the moment and it is winter so I am also major concentrating on keeping my lips super healthy and smooth and I like this. I don't know why it's a MOJITO balm since I don't detect a scent, but I like this quite a lot. The price on this balm is $12, which is a bit high but I think I would definitely buy it. It's a real lip repair balm and not just a gimmicky product, so I think it's worth the price. It's got a very thick and soft consistency that just keeps your lips feeling soft and moisturized.

Hikari Cosmetics Mechanical Eye Liner

I don't know how many times I have retaken my profile survey to say that I like liquid liners in black. But I keep getting pencil liners (while others got the black liquid liner) and not even in a black. I only wear black liner and it's so universal, I don't know why these services keep sending colors out that I can never wear.

Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow

Meh, meh and meh. I have this shade in like 6 different shadows that Ipsy has sent me. What is it with this shade that Ipsy enjoys so much. It's the new year, how about sending us some real color?

Overall, I'm underwhelmed by the Ipsy Fresh Start January Glam Bag. Seriously, it's a sad day when the most exciting thing in your bag is a lip balm. Do you subscribe to Ipsy, and if you do, please share what you got.
