Protecting The Eye Health Of Our Kiddos - Sammy Makes Six

Protecting The Eye Health Of Our Kiddos

This is part of a sponsored campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Transitions Optical. I was provided with a complimentary eye exam and pair of eyeglasses to test for the purpose of this campaign. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

The kids just went back to school and if you are like me, you are probably running behind on a lot of stuff including eye health care check ups. I made an appointment for Sammy last month before school began but ended up missing it, which means I need to get it done this month for sure. If you recall, I had an eye checkup last month and the eye doctor did let me know that it is very important to have the entire familia get their eyes checked once a year. Eye health is very important, we only get one set of eyes, so we have to take care of these precious eyes and make sure that all of us are getting to the eye care professional once a year.

I was able to update not just my prescription, which was over two years old, I also got to get an upgrade on my glasses and received a pair of Transitions® lenses – which I have been loving. Transitions® lenses – the #1 recommended adaptive lenses worldwide – are the ideal everyday choice for healthy sight. They are clear indoors and at night, and outdoors, continuously adapt with every variation of light so you can consistently see your best. It's a relief to always have my eyes protected especially since where I live that sun is on your 90% of the day and at it's full strength.

Did you know that eighty percent of what a child learns is visual? I did not, and I guarantee most people don't either. That's why Transitions developed the “Eye Didn’t Know That” (“YoNo Sabia Eso”) website for kids in both English and Spanish. This is a great site to visit with the entire family so everyone can learn more about eye health and the importance of eye protection. According to Transitions, children are more at risk of the eye-damaging effects of UV exposure than adults.  The eye of a child under the age of ten allows more than six times the amount of UV light to penetrate than an adult’s eye. It is never too early to begin to protect a child's eyesight.

My grandkids usually wear regular sunglasses but after learning how Transitions® lenses work, we are considering them for everyone. Transitions® block 100% of UV radiation and harmful UVA and UVB rays, plus they reduce glare.  They’re available in the sturdy, lightweight, shatter and impact-resistant materials that are best for children. It's going to be a ton of fun (NOT) getting them all in for exams, but in the end it will be worth the time and effort if their little eyes are safe and sound. Get a free Transitions Lens TRIAL and find out more about Transitions® Lens for the whole familia! And even though the kids are already in school, it is not to late to get their back-to-school vision screening.
